How to use
Scrubly 🔍

No tech skills needed. We'll walk you through every single click. Takes about 5 minutes!

Step 01
🤔

Wait — what even is an archive?

Great question! Every social media platform secretly stores a copy of everything you've ever done on their site. Every post, every comment, every photo you shared — it's all sitting on their servers.

An archive is just a zip file of all that data that you can download and keep for yourself. It's completely free to request and totally legal — it's YOUR data after all!

🔒 Privacy note: When you upload your archive to Scrubly, the file stays on your device — it never gets sent to our servers. Only the text of your posts is briefly analyzed by AI. We never see your photos, personal info, or anything else.

Upload to Scrubly

Once you have your zip file downloaded to your device:

💡 You can also just drag and drop the zip file onto the upload area!
Step 04

Wait while it scans

You'll see a progress bar and live updates as Scrubly reads through your posts. Don't close the tab — just leave it running!

How long does it take?

📅 1-2 years of posts → about 30 seconds
📅 5 years of posts → about 1-2 minutes
📅 10+ years of posts → about 3-5 minutes
Step 05
📊

Understand your results

When it's done you'll see your Risk Score from 0-100, plus your flagged posts broken into three categories:

🔴

High Risk — Delete these now

Violent language, hate speech, illegal activity references, serious complaints about employers. These could seriously damage your reputation if found.

🟡

Medium Risk — Consider deleting

Political rants, drinking posts, negativity about coworkers, complaining about work. Borderline content that depends on your industry and situation.

🟢

Low Risk — Probably fine

Old posts that could be misread, mild venting, personal oversharing. Worth knowing about but unlikely to cause serious issues.

💡 Each flagged post has a plain English explanation of exactly why it could be a problem — so you can decide what to do!
Free vs Paid: The free scan shows your risk score and 3 example flagged posts. The $9.99 full report reveals every single flagged post with priority recommendations for what to delete first.
Step 06
🗑️

Delete the risky ones

Scrubly shows you what to delete — but the actual deleting is up to you. We never have access to your social media accounts, which is how it should be!

💡 Facebook tip: Go to your profile → click the three dots next to "Edit profile" → click "Activity Log" → search for keywords to find posts faster!

Still have questions? 🙋

Is my data safe?

Yes! Your zip file is read directly in your browser and never uploaded to our servers. Only the text content of your posts is briefly sent to our AI for analysis — no photos, no personal info, no account details. Nothing is stored after your scan completes.

My risk score is different each time — is that normal?

Yes, totally normal! AI analysis has a tiny natural variation — like how two different people reviewing your profile might give slightly different opinions. Your score will always be in the same range, and HIGH risk posts will always get caught. Don't stress over the exact number!

What does the $9.99 unlock?

The free scan shows your overall risk score and 3 sample flagged posts as a preview. The $9.99 full report reveals every single flagged post — all of them — with detailed explanations and a recommended priority order for what to delete first.

Can I scan multiple platforms?

Yes! Just scan one at a time. Download your Facebook archive and scan it, then download your Instagram archive and scan that. Each scan is completely separate.

How far back does it go?

All the way back to your first post! As long as it's in your archive it gets scanned — posts from 10 or 15 years ago included.

Why does it ask me to download JSON format?

JSON is a structured data format that Scrubly can read and analyze properly. HTML is designed for humans to read in a browser — Scrubly can't process it. Always choose JSON when given the option!

Does Scrubly delete posts for me?

No — and that's intentional. We never connect to your social media accounts. You always stay in full control of what gets deleted. Scrubly just shows you what needs attention.
